Shakira Returns To English Music With New Single "Don't Wait Up"
After seven years, Shakira is ready to grace the public with English music, once again. The Colombian crooner just released “Don’t Wait Up” which is the lead single from what will be the artist’s fifth English studio album.
“Don’t Wait Up” was co-written with Ian Kirkpatrick and Emily Warren who were also responsible for Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now.” The songs aren’t exactly the same but are in the same sonic dimension, if that makes sense. The song begins with a very dreamy and euphoric sound before moving into the dance chorus. The singer had this to say about the new single while speaking with Zane Lowe:
“This is actually heaven sent, I think, because really, it has been in my mind and it has already existed for a while inside of me.” - Shakira
As for the video, Shaki’s natural sex appeal is on display as she sits atop a neon-illuminated surf board. The video switches between scenes of her dancing in a crowd, dancing with two others and more surfing. It’s a pretty simple affair, nothing too extravagant but gets the job done.
We look forward to hearing and seeing more from this new album.
